Hello everyone. I am confused with the term multiple mediation. Which of the examples below is called multiple mediation? Or both are considered multiple mediation? Thank you.
Example 1:
OPENNESS TO CHANGE (IV) > TEAMWORK (M1) > ENTREPRENEURIAL CULTURE (M2) > INNOVATION (DV)
Example 2:
OPENNESS TO EXPERIMENT (IV) > ENTREPRENEURIAL CULTURE (M1) > INNOVATION (DV)
AGREEABLENESS (IV) > TEAMWORK CULTURE (M2) > INNOVATION (DV)
Multiple mediation

Re: Multiple mediation
The first is a serial mediation (a special type of multiple mediation).
The second is strictly speaking not a multiple mediation because you have different starting points. It is more like two separate mediations.
If both IVs would be the same but with different mediators M1 and M2 then you would have a parallel mediation.
