Problems importing csv or txt files into Smart PLS

Post by raoul.v.kuebler »

I got some bizar problems importing csv or any ohter data files into smarpls.

My Excel CSV file concerns 103 cases with about 10 variables.

When I transform the excel file to an csv theres is no problem. All data is rightly transformed. But when I import the csv file with semicolon breaks into smartpls only the first 10 rows (cases) from the csv file are imported and smart pls confronts me with an error message telling me that i got too many LVs for only 10 cases. How can I get the rest?

Does somebody else have similar problems or is it just my stupidity wih importing?

Btw I got the same problems when I just try to import a text file with tabulator breaks.

Hope somebody can help me out. Thanks!

Hi,
after importing the data, SmartPLS shows a green simbol (icon) in the data base of the project. If the simbol was red you have some problem in the data base, like: missing value, strings, space... Then you must correct it and import it again.
Best regards.

Importing Data from SPSS into Excel

Post by KathrinJung »

Hello,

I am just getting started with using PLS and my laptop operates on Windows Vista.
When I copy data from SPSS into Excel, numbers are imported as text and I cannot change the cell format so that the program recognises them as numbers. Also they are imported as 2.0, which I though was better than commas.

Is this a special problem with vista?
Many thanks, Kathrin
