Problem with configurational invariance

Hello Experts
I am conducting a multigroup study, but have not been able to establish configurational invariance in the measurement model. Could I remove some items (mode A) to achieve configurational invariance?
(I know that by eliminating these items I must guarantee reliability and validity).
If this can be done, is there any literature to support this?
Thanks!
