nonlinearity in measurement model

Hi everyone,
I have the problem of some items loading in a non-linear way (e.g. similar to exponential or logarithmic form) on my factor, leading to low factor loadings and the nonfulfillment of the AVE criterion of AVE > .5.
Is there any data transformation possible (apart from logarithm, which I already tried and does not work), which makes the loadings more linear? Or any other idea of what I could do?
As the items are important from a theoretical point of view, I don't want to remove them.
Thanks a lot in advance!!
