Desperate: 1 indicator missing - what to do now?

Questions about the implementation and application of the PLS-SEM method, that are not related to the usage of the SmartPLS software.

Desperate: 1 indicator missing - what to do now?

Post by Gold.marie »

Hi everyone,

I desperately need your help! The last two weeks I conducted a survey and was just about to start my PLS calculations. The attempted model is as follows: 6 latent variables are each measured reflectively by indicators. The 6 latent variables are supposed to explain 1 construct.

In setting up the model in SmartPLS I noticed that I forgot to include an indicator for the construct in my survey. Therefore, I have no measure whatsoever for the goal variable that is to be explained.

Does anyone have an idea how I could resolve this issue and still perform some kind of statistical analysis that helps me identify the relevant latent variables within this model? It does not necessarily have to be a PLS calculation, any other statistical analysis is fine. I am happy for any tips you can give me so that the data I collected is not lost and i can somehow 'save' my work.

Thanks in advance,
Marie

If you have no measure at all for your goal construct it will be hard to build a meaningful model, because you have no information about the part that interests you.
