A LV intended to conceptually reflect higher-order construct

Questions about the implementation and application of the PLS-SEM method, that are not related to the usage of the SmartPLS software.

A LV intended to conceptually reflect higher-order construct

Post by sah579 »

Hi,

I read a number of times that some researchers use the "repeated indicator approach" when forming a second-order construct.

1- Are there other approaches?

2- Can one assign a single indicator (a question) for a construct that the researcher wants it to conceptually reflect the overall quality of a system (which is determined by (have three antecedents), or theoretically composed by the information quality, service quality, and system technical quality)?
For example, to measure this latent variable asking a general question on the perceived overall system quality as if it a higher-order construct? (i.e., asking the respondents to rate their perception (using a Likret scale) on their perception of the goodness of the overall system quality.

Please advise !!

Thanks in advance :)

Hello Shatha,
1. Another approach => Two-Step Approach, similar Two-Stage Approach for interaction.
2. Yes
