I’m having trouble getting SmartPLS to accept my data file as I set up a new project.
The system keeps identifying my file with a red question mark inside the new project window and will not show the indicators to work with.
I have a simple Excel file, from Qualtrics, with the following format
Q2_2 Q2_3 Q2_4 Q2_5 Q2_6
2 1 4 1 2
1 3 4 4 4
3 3 3 3 3
5 3 4 3 5
5 5 5 4 4
1 1 4 3 4
1 1 1 1 3
2 2 2 4 5
There are variable labels in the first row and only numbers in the rest of the cells.
I’m saving through Excel as “CVS (Comma delimited)”.
In SmartPLS, I am using > Import Indicator Data, browsing and selecting my new .cvs file, checking the box for “This indicator data contains missing values., indicating that missing values be coded -999, and clicking finish.
I'm getting these errors when I select delimiter as Comma and then clicking Validate:
1: The dataset 1 has 72 columns, but there are 75 indicators in total.
2: The dataset 2 has 74 columns, but there are 75 indicators in total.
6: The dataset 6 has 73 columns, but there are 75 indicators in total.
7: The dataset 7 has 71 columns, but there are 75 indicators in total.
9: The dataset 9 has 74 columns, but there are 75 indicators in total.
12: The dataset 12 has 74 columns, but there are 75 indicators in total.
17: The dataset 17 has 74 columns, but there are 75 indicators in total.
18: The dataset 18 has 74 columns, but there are 75 indicators in total.
21: The dataset 21 has 73 columns, but there are 75 indicators in total.
23: The dataset 23 has 73 columns, but there are 75 indicators in total.
... there are 105 more errors, which are not shown here
Examining my file shows no discrepency between number of columns and indicators?
I've played with some small dummy files and am finding that SmartPLS is not doing anything with the missing values in my files when I indicate them to be -999 when prompted. Previewing the dummy files shows them as empty and that is what is throwing off the column/indicator counts.
I can’t get past this step help…
