Home Directory Error when running SmartPLS

Post by albertmunoz »

Hello,

I am trying to run SmartPLS on a Mac, using VMWare Fusion Virtual Machine. The first problem was java related, and that was solved. Currently, when I tried running it, the following error comes up.

Warning

SmartPLS needs to store information in your home directory

\\vmware-host\Shared Folders was determined to be the path to that directory, but

-SmartPLS cannot create a file in that directory

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi ALbert,

Did you find a way around the issue by ancy chance? My VMWare won't run SmartPLS for the same reason either...

Thanks in advance,
Magdelijn

Hi there,

I face exactly the same issue. Have you found any solution already?

Home Directory issue using VMWARE

Post by lorikendall999 »

I have the exact same issue. I cannot run the current version of SmartPLS until I can work around this issue. I think I solved my JRE issue by adding an .ini file AND keeping the JRE in the install directory AND changing default permissions to give all users full control over directory contents. Any solutions to this problem? I'm stuck and I've spent over 4 hours trying to get SmartPLS installed. I have over 200 apps installed on my machine (i'm a software engineer by trade). This seems overly complext to me. It shouldn't be such a big deal to install software!

Issue solved by turning off shared folders.

I got the similar problem.

here is the message:
"SmartPLS needs to store information in your home directory.
C:\Users\rauza was determined to be the path to that directory, but
this directiry does not exist"

while I put folder of smartPLS2 at C:\smartpls2

could anyone solve this?
