Calculating correlation of latent Variable scores of IV, DV and its comparison with path coefficients of IV->DV

Questions about the implementation and application of the PLS-SEM method, that are not related to the usage of the SmartPLS software.

Calculating correlation of latent Variable scores of IV, DV and its comparison with path coefficients of IV->DV

Post by amrkuls »

I wish to ask whether the correlation of IV and DV latent variable scores generated in PLS algorithm in smart pls 4 be always equal to path coefficients of the IV->DV relationship even after the addition of control variable or will it change after addition of control variables in the model.

I have run the model without control variables. The correlation of latent variable scores and path coefficent came out to be same value.
But after addition of control variables , they were not same value.

Path coefficients in PLS are usually standardized multivariate regression coefficients. Thus, they are the same as correlation coefficients if you have either just one IV or all IVs are orthogonal (uncorrelated). As soon as you have multiple correlated IVs they should not be the same, because the regression coefficients are more like partial correlations.
