Using SmartPLS on a MacBook Air with VMWare (Virtual Machine

Post by ronjoninpgh »

I successfully installed SmartPLS on my MacBook Air using VMWare Fusion 4 as a Virtual Machine. However, when I try to open it, I get the message: "SmartPLS needs to store information in your home directory. \\vmware-host\SharedFolders was determined to be the path to the directory but SmartPLS cannot create a file in that directory."

Can somebody help me with this?

I'm having the same problem using VMWare Fusion 5. Is there a workaround?

I am having the same problem. I did find a work around however. Disable "shared folders" in your fusion settings (...setttings...sharing) the it runs for me. Although this work I loose access to all my shared files between windows and the host OSX which is not ideal. You can always turn sharing back on after you finish using smart PLS however all your shortcuts etc will have gone or been broken (not lost files or data) it does work but is extremely irritating nonetheless
