Item Mean and Item Standard Deviation (SD)
Item Mean and Item Standard Deviation (SD)
Hi
How we can calculate Item Mean and SD with smartpls? would you please explain it clearly since I'm beginner with analysis specially with smartpls...
Many thanks

mean derived from latent factor score
I have been told that means and standard deviations can be calculated from the latent factor scores using Excel or SPSS. Can anyone explain to me how?
Re: mean derived from latent factor score
SmartPLS does not provide descriptive statistics, for that use SPSS or other software.

Hi lindapannekoek,
You said "I have been able to calculate these values by transferring the unstandardised latent variable scores from the SmartPLS output to SPSS, and then calculating the mean and sd based on these values in SPSS"
Could you explain more; because I want to calculate the mean and standard deviation for latent variables, and spss just calculates the mean and standard deviation for the items.
Thank you

Hi,
After run PLS algorithm, save latent variables score and input to SPSS (descriptive statistics).

Dear all,
Please explain why the values for mean and SD differ in SPSS (Reliability Analysis results) and SmartPLS 2.0 (Bootstrapping results). Please refer to the attached screenshots.
Many thanks,
May

Re: Item Mean and Item Standard Deviation (SD)
Because you are analysing different things.
In SPSS you analyse the item mean and standard deviation.
In the SmartPLS output that you provide you analyse the bootstrapp distribution of the outer loading of your items on the latent variable (i.e., the bivariate correlation of the item and latent variable score).
These are two different analysis and hence give you different results.

Re: Item Mean and Item Standard Deviation (SD)
My mean scores in PLS regression and SPSS descriptive stats results are far different. In PLS financial constraints on SMEs show the least binding constraint whereas in SPPSS it shows the most binding out of seven constructs. How can I report these contradictory results? Please help urgent!

Given your information it is not clear what you did on SPSS and why it should compare to PLS results. Please provide more information.
