Indicator "Strength"

Post by Stefan_Scheers »

Hello all,

I have a question regarding indicators of a latent variable. Is there a way to calculate the "strength" of an indicator for a latent variable? I know I can use the outer loadings / weights to see which indicator contributes most to the variable. However, does it make sense to also calculate the f-square for an indicator, e.g. taking 1 indicator out of the scale and then calculating the f-square through the difference in R2.

So, are there other measurements possible for indicators than "just" outer loadings/weights.

Thanks a lot!

In general, this would only make sense for a formative constructs. However, formative constructs in PLS are are by definition error free; so you will always have an R-Square of 1, because the latent variable is a linear combbination of its indicators.
