Perhaps nobody cares but it looks like smartpls is tied with firefox 2...
At least in Fedora.
Spls crashes (due to the above mentioned error).
Installing FF-2 (say in ~/bin/firefox2) and then trying:
MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME=~/bin/firefox2 smartpls
I was able to run it.
