Hello everyone,
I aim to test effect of each dimension of Service Quality (SQ) to Satisfaction. In the literature, SQ has 7 dimensions (SQ is reflective-reflective higher-order constructs, 7 dimensions are its LOCs). Through my qualitative research, I add 2 more as new dimensions of SQ.
I conducted EFA and CFA via SmartPLS for all 9 dimensions and all thresholds are satisfied.
My question as follow : Have I to assess the validity and relialibity of HOC measurement model (SQ) ? For clearly, main objectif of my research is to test effect of each dimension to Satisfaction (not SQ (HOC) to satisfaction). Is it necessary to assess HOC measurement ? because I don't test effect of SQ to Satisfaction, but its dimensions (9 dimensions).
I hope you can get me more clear and let me know some references talking about the same model like mine.
Many thanks in advance.
Should validate HOC or not ?

Can you show us a representation of your model?

Re: Should validate HOC or not ?
Dear Mr Becker,
I attached here graphical representation of my model. In fact, these SQ1 to SQ8 are dimensions of SQ model. By theoretical, SQ has 6 dimensions. After my qualitative research, I would like to add SQ2 and SQ3 as 2 other dimensions of SQ.
Could you explain me if I have to assess mearsurement model of SQ (higher order construct) before testing effect of its dimensions to Satisfaction ?

Re: Should validate HOC or not ?
The central question is: Do you believe that all dimensions are part of a higher-order constructs that fully mediates all effects or not?
If yes, you need to include the higher-order construct SQ and assess the effect of each sub-dimension of SQ and then the effect of SQ on satisfaction. However, if you do not believe that there exists such a higher-order construct that fully mediates all effect of the sub-dimensions then the model you show would be better.

Re: Should validate HOC or not ?
Dear Dr. Becker,
I see that there are some significant effects coming directly from some dimensions of SQ to Satisfaction. As what you advise, I think it's not necessary to include higher-order construct SQ in my model.
Thank you so much for your explanation. It's clear for me now.
Best regards,
Lily
