can't create a new model

Post by schokodropsi »

It says in the manual:
3. Main Window
After opening SmartPLS, the main window appears. It is possible to either
create a new model or to open an existing model.
3.1. Create New Model
When selecting the option Create new model, the following dialog opens. A
model name, the data source and name for the model indicators as well as a
separator for the CSV (comma separated value) file are required to start a new project.

MY PROBLEM: AFTER OPENING PLS NO MAIN WINDOW APPEARS, WHERE I HAV AN OPTION TO CREATE A MODEL. THE ONLY OPTION I HAVE IS TO IMPORT FILES, BUT NO SPSS FILES.
HOW CAN I PUT MY SPSS FILE INTO PLS????

Hi Karen,
SmartPLS works just with *.csv or *.txt files

In SPSS: save as *.xls
Open the Excel file
Save as *.csv

Now you could open with SmartPLS.

Maybe new versions of SPSS could save as *.csv or *.txt.

Thanks Bido,

I'm sorry, it doesn't work!
The only possible way is:
File-> Import -> Select Source-> Important Projekt
Next
Browse-> Open a *.splsp -File

So I need a *.splsp-File, there is no option to open an *.csv-file.

So, I still can't work with smartPLS as I can't import any data/ create any models!
HELP ME PLEASE!

Hi Karen,
It shoud have File / New / Create New Project / Project Name...
As the manual presents downloads.php#manual
In the same link you could download an example ecsi.splsp and test if you can import it, but it looks that there is a problem with the instalation, because the first option (Create New Project) should be avaliable.
Best regards
Bido
