model comparison under the same project

Post by Zhiwu »

I have a project with one model. I want to modify this model then compare the results from new model and the results from the old one. Can I copy the old model to create a new one under the same project name?

At the moment, this is not possible in SmartPLS. But i´ll put this issue on the todo list for the next releases!

The new release enables you to copy/duplicate your model files (across projects as well as within the same project) !

Please visit our download area and get SmartPLS 2.0 M2.

copying models

How do we go about copying models with relationships and indicators?
I have tried copy and paste and looked at all the tabs but have not been able to do so.

Thank you!

Hi,

1) How to copy the project (model and data)?
Projects / right click in the project name / copy resource / Rename it / OK.

2) How to copy the model (inside of the same project)?
1) Projects / click in the blue icon (model to be copied) / Copy resource / Select the model again / Rename it / Ok.

In this way you will have the same data set with different models to run.

Best regards,

Splitting the model in smaller pieces

Post by acavazos »

Dear Professor Bido,
When I run the complete model, only two of the ten paths are significant. However, when I split the model in smaller pieces I have more paths that are significant.
Is this process correct? Can we assume the paths are significant overall?

Problem with multiple models within a project

Post by cangst »

I see your response below and have no trouble creating copies of projects or models but when I copy a model, save All (ie. the project), close PLS, and try to reopen my project, only my most recent model appears and it appears in all of the tabs (the tabs I refer to are the models). Thus, I'm losing all of the other model comparisons that were in the other tabs within the same project. I hope this makes sense and I wonder if I'm just doing something wrong. Thanks.
