PhD Example Papers that use PLS SEM in economic analysis
Hi All,
If there is anybody can send me one or two PhD thesis samples which use PLS SEM in economic analysis, I would be very grateful. Because I am working on the paper which focus on the relationships among FDI, Human Capital and GDP growth. I have done extensively search but could not find any paper or examples that show how PLS SEM path modelling be applied in the economic/econometric analysis.
It would be highly appreciated that anyone can help.
My contact email is: g2chen@yahoo.com.au
Regards,
Gordon.

WarpPLS n SmartPLS
Hi Sarjana,
Thank you very much for your reply. I have done quite a few research, it seems that PLS SEM are mainly be applied into the areas such as Market Research, and Psychology Research. It is very rarely to see that it has applied in econometric analysis. I am a beginner in this field. Some people suggest me to use Panel Data n Time series to analyse the causal relationship between FDI, Human Capital impact on GDP growth. But I found that PLS SEM may be the better tool to be used to substantiate the causal relationship between these variables. I am not sure whether or not I am on the right track? Please advise.
Kind regards,
Gordon.

How to apply time series data into PLS SEM
Hi Sarjana,
In regards to my model, FDI---Human Capital---GDP growth, "Human Capital" is a latent variable, under this latent variable, I may include indicators such as (1)average female schooling of each sample country, (2)average male schooling of each sample country. I will use 1984-2004 20 years time series data. Is that Ok? If possible, could you give me some actual PLS SEM examples in econometric for reference?
Thank you.
Gordon.

Mode B Constructs
Hi Sarjana,
What do you mean "Mode B constructs"? Is possible to contact your friend to see whether or not I can have a look at her PhD paper?
My supervisor recommended me to use panel data and time series method instead of PLS SEM. I have tested them with eViews. It works Ok. But the disadvantage is that panel data calculation only shows correlations between variables. They could not prove any causal relationships. PLS SEC path modelling can clearly show a robust causal relationships between constructs.
What is your suggestion?
Thank you.

Re: PhD Example Papers that use PLS SEM in economic analysis
Hi Hengky,
I have tried to build a new data file by myself which is in CSV format. When I create a new project and upload this CSV file to the SmartPLS application, it shows a red icon on the CSV file. When I open the CSV file, it can show properly on the pane on the right hand window under 'Comma' option. But in the "Indicators" window on the left hand side, there is nothing show up!
I am not sure what is happening. I tried many times, this problem is still persist. I think that I need you help to look into my data file to identify what the problem is. It stops me to go any further to build my path model.
If you need the file to have a look, I can send you the data file. Please advise your contact email address.
Looking forward to hear from you.
Gordon.

Dears
How to incorporate country-specific control variables such as GDP in the relationship between two latent variables (for example compensation and firm value) in SmartPLS?

For a single country, just use a single item country.
For multiple countries, use a country control construct and add all country dummy variables to the construct except the reference country dummy variable.

Hi~
You'd better use Eviews or Econometrics for your research (unless the number of obs.under your study is small, e.g.<50). good luck~
