Multiple number of indicators

Post by achmadghazali »

In my study the unit of analysis is a discussion thread. So, there are a number of discussion threads (T1, T2, T3, etc.)

Raters extract "facts" (f) from each discussion thread, and rate them according to "knowledge type" (r). Different discussion threads have different number of "facts".

So, I end up with something like the following (actually, I have two raters, but in the following for simplicity I assume that I have just one rater):

T1: f11 r11 f12 r12

T2: f21 r21

T3: f31 r31 f32 r32 f33 r33

etc.

Here, f32 is the second "fact" in thread 3 (T3), and r32 is its rating.

I'd like to include in my model a "knowledge type" construct for each thread.

What is the best way to do it?

As the number of "facts" in each discussion thread is variable, I seem to have a construct with a variable number of indicators.

Hi,

I do not understood it.
How many cases do you will have?
Two?

I understood that
fact = variables (columns)
rater = cases (rows)
Is this correct?

We can have different number of indicators/LV, but we have two situations:
1) The rater 2 did not find the fact2 (It was found by rater 1), we should use zero for his rating of fact2?
2) The rater 2 found the fact2 (It was found by rater 1), and he rate it as zero.

Just some ideas….

Best regards,

Bido
