Questions about the implementation and application of the PLS-SEM method, that are not related to the usage of the SmartPLS software.

Same indicator for 2 LVs

Post by fabio.colacchio »

Hi,
I have:
- I1 to I12: 12 store attributes (indicators)
- S1 to S4: 4 sub-components of the value proposition (LVs - first order)
- VP: 1 construct of "overall value proposition" (LV - second order).
I m designing a model where S1, S2, S3 and S4
form VP
are formed by I1 to I12.

As I do not have any indicator for VP I use I1 to I12 twice in the model.

According to theory certain attributes (e.g. I4: Assortment depth) affect more than 1 sub-component (e.g. S1: Assortment and S3: Information).
Can I use the same indicator for more than one latent variable?

repeating indicators

Yes indicators can be repeated if the same indicator is to appear in first order and second order constructs, not otherwise.
