f squares and VIF

Post by Kim »

Hi,

it's my first time to use Smart-Pls and I have some beginner-questions.

1) I have a formative model and I know, that I have to check the multicollinearity. I read, that I should use VIF, but I can't find it. Am I blind?

2) To evaluate the structural model one criteria is f squares of the path coefficients. I know f squares = (R squares includes - R squares excluded) / (1 - R square included). I only have R squares for my LV and not for the path coefficients between Indicators and LV??!!

Many Thanks for Help!!!

Best Regards,
Kim

Hi Kim,

ad 1) You can check multicollinearity by using statistical programs like SPSS. Just look in the menue for analysis --> regression --> linear and define your equation. Check the box analysis of collinearity under statistcs. The report will provide the VIF and "Konditionsindex".

ad 2) You can find a good explanation of the f² in Bliemel et. al "Handbuch PLS-Pfadmodellierung" S. 84.

I hope I could help you, although I am a rookie as well...
