How to conduct the control variable in PLS?

Questions about the implementation and application of the PLS-SEM method, that are not related to the usage of the SmartPLS software.

How to conduct the control variable in PLS?

Post by yuanho »

How to conduct the control variables (for example, firm size, etc.) in PLS?
How to run the control variable in a model, such as the MISQ paper (Liang, H., Saraf, N. Hu, Q. and Xue, "Assimilation of Enterprise Systems: the effect of Institutional Pressures and the Mediating role of Top Management", MIS quarterly, Vol31, no1, pp.59-87)

Thanks a lot!

Hi,

like multiple regression, the control variable was included in the model as a independent variable.

Thanks for the reference, Common method bias analysis was new for me.

There is a reply in another thread about control variable, and it says
"I don't think you can control for a variable in SmartPLS out-of-the-box, but one idea that comes to mind is to analyze your data in some other stats software first. E.g., you might regress your outomes on 'month' in SPSS, save the residuals, and then feed those into SmartPLS. Obviously, this way you would have partialled out the time"

Which one is right?

Thanks,
