Interpretation of MGA output

Post by Anna_Mueller »

Hi,

I did a MGA in SmartPLS 3.0, but now I have a problem to find a right interpretation of my results.

E.g. I compared the path A --> B in two groups.
My groups are defined using a variable "security system". In group1 the system is available, in group 2 it isn't.

Path Coefficient in Group 1 is -0.2.
Path Coefficient in Group 2 is -0.1.
Path Coefficient Difference is 0.1.
P<0.05

Do negative path coefficients mean that A influences B in a negative way?

Now what about the MGA:
I know that the difference between Group 1 and 2 is significant (P<0.05), but what about the interpretation?

Can I say that my variable "security system" influences the Path A --> B in Group 1 MORE than in Group 2? In my case: "security system" has even a more negative influence of A on B in Group than in Group 2?
So is it like this:
|-0.2| > |-0.1|
so Group 1 > Group 2

Or is it the other way round and my variable "security system" influences the Path A --> B in Group 2 MORE than in Group 1, because the sign is relevant.
So is it like this:
-0.2 < -0.1
so Group 1 < Group 2

Which interpretation is right?
