Why do outer loadings change when using another DV?

Questions about the implementation and application of the PLS-SEM method, that are not related to the usage of the SmartPLS software.

Real name and title:

Why do outer loadings change when using another DV?

Post by FHH »

Situation:
a) I have one independent and one dependent variable. Both are reflective. All outer loadings >0.7, AVEs >0.7, Cronbach's a >0.9

b) Now, I change the dependent variable with another dependet variable. All quality criteria for reflective items for the new dependent variable are met.

Problem:
In situation b), the outer loadings and thus AVE, Cronbach's a etc. of the unchanged independet variable collapse. Suddenly, I get very low outer loadings.

How is this possible? Thanks for advise!
