Sample size - Second Order & Validation

Hai

I have two second-order LVs in my model - type 1 and type 4 respectively. How do I calculate the minimum sample size requirement for my model given that these second-order LVs are present? Apart from these two, I have a first order reflective and a first order formative LV. Further, the second-order type 1 LV mentioned above is endogenous while all others are exogenous.

Also, it would be of great help if someone could give the validation methods for these second-order LVs. Please point me to some literature for the same.

Thanks!

Hi,

For calculate sample size minimum required, used ten-times rule or used G*Power and similiar software.
For conduct hierarchical model, used repeated indicators or two-stage approach.

I provide some literature for future readings:
Noonan, R., and Wold. 1983. Evaluation School System using PLS. Evaluation in Education, Pargamon.

Wetszel et al., 2009. Hierarchical models in MISQ

Becker et al., 2012. Hierarchical models in LRP.

Hair et al., 2013. A primer on PLS-SEM (Book)

Latan, H., and Ghozali, I. 2012. PLS with SmartPLS (Book).

Thanks a lot! :) I will refer the papers. But getting hold of the books would be tricky.

Thanks again! :)

Hai

Is the book available as an e-book so that I can buy it and use it immediately? All the stores here have to import it and are giving the delivery time as 1-3 weeks. I am in a bit of a hurry actually.

Thanks.

I think that will have to do. I have already read the LRP article. Moving on to Wetzels et al now. Hope that will answer my questions :) As for the book, given that it was so highly recommended, I have already ordered it. Would definitely be a keeper any which way! :)

Thanks a ton. This forum has been my lifeline with respect to the methodology! You guys do amazing work. Thanks again!

Hi,
LRP article is good.
You should see the PLS Handbook Chapter by Wilson.
