Urgent help needed! testing hypotheses separately

Hi,
I have recently received a revision and the reviewer is questioning smart pls. I need help in finding proper responses. He/she is asking to test my hypotheses separately without the existence of the other (i have two IVs (no connection between them) and one DV, and 1 moderator (moderating both direct links).
Does his question make sense? Should I run another analysis and test each hypothesis separately without other constructs existing, how can I explain that in the paper? If I should not do that, how can I provide a proper answer?
