Questions about the implementation and application of the PLS-SEM method, that are not related to the usage of the SmartPLS software.

total effects

Hi,

For comparing the total effects, can I use the total effects shown in SmartPLS or do I have to calculate them? How to calculate the significance of the total and the indirect effects? Or can I see the t-Values in SmartPLS?

Thx!

Best,
Ella

Hi,

SmartPLS cannot result significant inderect effect, so you must compute by hand using formula Sobel or Bootstrapping approach. In WarpPLS possible automatic compute it. Hope developer SmartPLS attention it next version for easy to use SmartPLS 3.0.

Is it possible to start with smartPLS then switch to Warppls to report inderect effect?

No, used one software.
Because SmartPLS and WarpPLS have different algorithm with based OLS.
Example: in WarpPLS generally used PLS Regression Algorithm develop by Svante Wold and Harlad Martens. In SmartPLS used Herman Wold and Lohmoller PLS-PM algorithm.
Btw, result SmartPLS and WarpPLS have little different (SmartPLS in T-statistic; WarpPLS in P-value).B-)

I though they used the same algorithm (warpPLS and smartPLS).

and it's true. I noticed that, there are slight differences in coefficient and other parameters.

Thanks Hengky for explaining.
