Supressor Variable without indirect effect?

Post by PhilipBeu »

Hi everyone!

So my results are as follows. I do not have an effect for effort expectancy on behavioral intention in one of my 2 groups (in the other group there is a smal positive one).

As soon as I add satisfaction as a potential mediator, the former non-significant effect becomes significant (and negative) and the former significant positive effect becomes unsignificant.

However there are no significant indirect effects!! how do i interpretate this?

At first glance, it could be multicollinearity problems, suppression effects, ... something like this, which I would try to explore.
However, there could also be a substantial explanation, maybe due to some other omitted mediator.
Sometimes also a few extreme outliners can cause such a problem. There are potentially many reasons.
