Hello,
is it possible to use a number of measures, i.e. count data (not really metric data) as a dependent variable in smartpls?
On this site https://www.researchgate.net/post/What_ ... _Modeling2 it is stated that non-metric data can be used when doing pls-sem.
Or do I have to transform the data before using it in smartpls (poisson...)?
Many thanks in advance for your help!
Kind regards,

Re: Count Data (Number of measures) as dependent variable
Generally, all types of data that you would put into a normal multivariate linear regression can also be used in PLS. PLS is a system of regressions. The only difference is that you do not rely on normal theory assumptions for estimating the standard errors, but that you use non-parametric bootstrapping.
There are certainly some limitations with using count data, but I have seen such data in regression and PLS analysis. It also depends on the specific data characteristics (e.g., do you expect a lot of zeros? etc.).
