Using a phantomvariable

Post by Michaela Dietz »

Hello Smart PLS community,

I´ve got a question about using a phantomvariable.
We use a reflective first-order, and a formative second-order measurement model. And we want to use a phantomvariable in order to check the validity.

As we thought, we do not need to use indicators for calculating this second order formative lantent variable, but just the phantomvariable. We would use reflective indicators for that phantomvariable.
So in our measurement model is one latent variable without any indicators.
But we need a "valid pathmodel". So pls don´t start calculating.

Can anybody help us???
Or is it really not possible to calculate like that?

Thanks.
