Is the composite reliability computed in smartPLS equivalent to Dillon-Goldstein's p as mentioned in Tenenhaus et al. (2005)? The formula looks pretty much the same.

Thanks in advance

Hi!

Yes it is (see also Chin 1998, viewtopic.php?t=19).

Hi there,

I have an additional question concerning composite reliability and Dillon-Goldstein's p. If I test factor reliability, for which composite reliability is an appropriate measure, is it the same as “Interne Konsistenz”? I found a formula which looks quite the same....

I’m looking forward to your answers! Thanks a lot!

Hi Sonja,

the composite reliability (or construct reliability as it is called by Hair et al. [2006, p. 777]) is, besides alpha, one possibility to measure the internal consistency. The internal consistency I would interpret more in a sense of a concept (as a part of the convergent validity), the composite reliability criterion as a measure.

Hth,
Steffen
