Data metric (original data or Mean 0 var 1 data)

Questions about the implementation and application of the PLS-SEM method, that are not related to the usage of the SmartPLS software.

Data metric (original data or Mean 0 var 1 data)

Post by tonylu »

Hi,

I have a 5-point Likert-scale dataset. So I think I should select "original" option to run the PLS model. But the loadings and cronbach's alpha are very low. However, when I delect "mean 0 and var 1" option, the results are much reasonable.

I used to use PLS Visual to run the same model, the loadings and cronbach's alpha are also close to the later method.

Would you please give me some suggetions about this?

Thanks

Dear Dr. Lu,

if you do not have standardized data in your dataset, you should use the "mean 0, var 1" version in PLS to use standardized data for estimation. If you have standardized your variables before, you can use both options. There should be no difference.

Best regards,
