Residual

Post by KGM »

Hi everybody,

I want to calculate the residuals of my target construct/indicators. But I only find the residual scores in the outcome of smartPLS 3.0. Is it possible to transform or calculate them by another way?

Thanks in advance and I appreciate any remarks.

What do you think is the difference between the residuals that you are looking for and the residuals in the SmartPLS output?

According to your remark, I think that my considerations were too complicated.
So the residual scores are just standardized and belong to their observations as I unterstand it. (Mean 0 / Var 1)
How can I calculate the raw resiudal values because I do not find the SD of the residuals score.

Thank you in advance!

The residual scores are not standardized. We only report the correlations in addition to the residuals, but the residuals themselves are not standardized. If you copy them to excel, for example, you can calculate the variance or standard deviation of the residuals and will usually get numbers different than 1.
However, the mean will always be 0 as the residuals are calculated based on standardized LV and MV scores as it is always done in PLS.

Thank you very much for the quick reply. Now I am understanding the residual scores.
My last question is how can I calculate the raw residuals?
