The weirdest error message?

Post by MattiasOtto »

Hi I upload my dataset to Smart PLS. It is .csv, choose a comma as the delimiter..I hit validate: and then this! What does it mean? I have in the area of 200 variables in the set, (some which are variants of each other), and in the area of 200 respondents.. Does it mean that that I several data sets? Does it mean that only one column is read? What is wrong? and how do I fix it?

1: The dataset 1 has 58 columns, but there are 1 indicators in total.
2: The dataset 2 has 64 columns, but there are 1 indicators in total.
3: The dataset 3 has 53 columns, but there are 1 indicators in total.
4: The dataset 4 has 51 columns, but there are 1 indicators in total.
5: The dataset 5 has 49 columns, but there are 1 indicators in total.
6: The dataset 6 has 106 columns, but there are 1 indicators in total.
7: The dataset 7 has 55 columns, but there are 1 indicators in total.
8: The dataset 8 has 86 columns, but there are 1 indicators in total.
9: The dataset 9 has 69 columns, but there are 1 indicators in total.
10: The dataset 10 has 53 columns, but there are 1 indicators in total.
... there are 130 more errors, which are not shown here

Hi,
Save your data in format 2003 (2007 & 2010 not compatible with SmartPLS, have this problem) OK.

Hi,
look for:
- strings, blancks, simbols ($, #, @, NULL!, NA, NAN, etc.)
- missing numbers (as a mean computed in the last row)

By the error message, it looks that the problem is in the 2nd column.

Best regards,

Bido

Thanx - Diogenes, where would we be without you...

I have tried all that, and there are no weird symbols or missing numbers...

What then? The data set that gives this message worked fine at first...then I went into SPSS, and recoded one manifest variable, and made a group of manifest variables into a few factors...and then I tried to import the same data set...then this...

My SPSS has been buggy for a while, -can that have created something in the meta-data that is not visible to the naked eye?

What do you think? RIght now my work is at s standstill..

Try my suggest, you can solve this problem. It's just about format file: 2003, 2007 or 2010.
SmartPLS sometimes not respond csv. file 2007 or 2010 (this problem show), but fine work in format 2003.
