Getting a new computer

Post by lplotnick »

I am considering getting a new computer with Windows 8. I now have Windows 7 and will not be getting the new computer for a while. My questions are:
1. If I purchase a single user license will it work with my Windows 7 machine?
2. Will I be able to use the SPSS files I created previously in SPSS 2 (free version)?
3. If at some point I do replace my computer, will I be able to transfer my single user license to the new computer?
Thanks

Thank you very much for your questions.

@1: Sure SmartPLS 3 works on Windows and Apple operating systems.

@2: I guess you mean SmartPLS 2 files (SPSS files only work via a csv export with SmartPLS). SmartPLS 2 files work with SmartPLS 3. But SmartPLS 3 files do not work with SmartPLS 2.

@3: When you switch your computer device, we need to unlock your license for its usage on this device. Just create a support request here: http://support.smartpls.com/ We usually get things unlocked within 24 hours.

Thank you!!!

Just two more questions (which, if I searched more carefully I could probably find the answers to):

1. Will SmartPLS support multi-group moderators?
2. Does it support 2nd order formative constructs

I know how to do both by other means but it would be so convenient if it could be done just using SmartPLS

Thanks again.

Hi

@1: I am not sure if multigroup and moderation makes sense. Moderation is a type of multigroup analysis. SmartPLS supoorts both approaches seperately. And sure, you can run a mulitgroupanalysis of a moderator model in SmartPLS.

@2: Sure, if you construct the model accordingly using the repeated indicator approach (http://misq.org/skin/frontend/default/m ... sV36N1.pdf).
