Problem in VAF Values (Special Case)

Post by Tabinda »

I have a second order Mediator in my model along with 4 IVs and 5 DVs. When I run the model the relationship between my IV1 and DV1 is non significant while IV1-Mediaotr-DV1 is (indirect path) is significant. I have calculated the VAF which is .35 that is around 35%. Now I have a question : According to ringle VAF>.80 represents full mediation.

To me when direct path is non significant and indirect path is significant it is a case of full mediation ... Is it then important to report VAF and if so then what could be probable reason for not obtaining a high value like VAF>.80

2) in the same analysis I have direct and indirect paths both significant , when i calculate VAF it is .50 which shows partical mediation...Is it correct..
