Categorical dependent variable

Post by EmmaWijnen »

Hi everyone,

In my research, I have a dependent variable that is categorical (presence of innovation, answers: yes/no).
Is it still possible to do the normal PLS analyses (bootstrapping etc.) or do I need to do additional analyses?

Thanks for your help!

Hi

PLS requires metric variables. You get results but must change the interpretation (which is very tricky). It's like in regression when you use a dependend dummy coded variable instead a metric variable as required - the analysis changes into a logit/probit model.

Hi,

May be BSEM (Bayesian Structural Equation modeling) more appropiate for handle your cases with DV category.

There was more PLS work on this in the 1980s. The Lohmoller text might provide some guidance.
