Problems in converting SPSS file to CSV

Post by jam »

I have challenges in working with my data in SmartPLS 3. I initially had data well imported to SmartPLS and could do some analysis. Later, I decided to modify the variables in SPSS and re-convert the file to CSV for analysis. I deleted the original project in SmartPLS. Unfortunately, the process is not working in my favour. I sometimes get an exclamation mark when I create a new project in SmartPLS. Further, when I convert the SPSS file to csv I get like a normal excel file (data values are not separated by comma, they appear in columns). Importing them to SmartPLS, I get a message - no indicators to show.

Please, I kindly request for your assistance. Anyone with a solution to my problem?

First, look at our guidelines for importing data into SmartPLS.
There are different export options for SPSS that export to csv. Not all are equally appropriate, but many are equivalent with the difference in column separator (which you might need to specify in SmartPLS correctly, i.e., comma or semicolon or tab).
Then you also need to take care that SPSS only exports numbers and not labels (i.e., text markers of your values).
You may also need to revise the missing value treatment in SPSS and after export.
