Some users cannot activate SmartPLS 2 with their activation key.

• In some e-mails is a line-makeup in the activation key. Please make sure that you paste the entire activation key into the SmartPLS 2 activation window.
  
  In other cases, users added a free character (blank/space) before, after and/or somewhere in the activation key. Please make sure that you use activation key as it is in your e-mail without any additional free characters.

However, if you carefully pasted the activation key into the SmartPLS 2 activation window and you still get an error message, you will not be able to use SmartPLS 2, at the moment. We discovered a serious problem in the activation routine and try to work this out as soon as possible. Bug-fix information on this problem will be provided in this forum.

Please help us, to detect the error in our activation routine!

We developed a small tool, which should help us to determine the reasons which cause the trouble. The tool will test the online communication and interaction with our server and collect some information about your computer system. The collected information will be uploaded to our server then.
You can be sure that we will use this data solely for debugging issues. All data will be deleted after we fixed the bug.

We would appreciate, if some of our users (especially those, who still have problems with the software activation) would execute this tool.

If you would like to support us, please follow these steps:

1. Start our tool (just click the link - its a Java Webstart application)

2. Follow the instructions/questions of the tool

Note: If you are using a firewall you probably need to adjust the firewall rules, to allow the tool to establish an internet connection.

After successful execution, the tool will display a short success message! If it does not, don´t mind !

Is the activation key problem fixed yet? I am not able to activate SmartPLS with the activation key sent me.

The activation key problem is fixed in the new SmartPLS release that will be rolled out within the next days.

I am running smartPLS2 for the first time and cannot get past the activation wizard. When I enter the licence key sent to me, I get the following error: An error occurred during the activation procedure!

If your internet connection is managed by a proxy server, please enter the proxy server host, the port number and the username and password (if needed) within the activation wizard.

The software starts but no activation windows appears. Is there soem other way to force the activation windows to appear?

Dear Richard,

this is not a bug. You probably just installed a newer SmartPLS verions "over" and older one. In order to avoid this kind of error messages we recommend in the instructions to uninstall an older SmartPLS (save your workspace fisrt) before installing a new one.

I downloaded smart-pls and received the activation key as well, but i can't activate smart-pls. When I enter the activation key and press Ok, I get the message "An error occured during the activation procedure". I also tried to use the debug tool, but it didn't work either. Can you help me out? Usual problems are:

- you do not have the system requirements (an appropriate JRE is not installed)
- you are not online while activating the software
- you have a personal firewall on your system that blocks the communication with our server during the activation process (just deactivate the personal firewall during the procedure)
- you used you key for three times (the maximum number of activations)
