Re: Relective or Formative
Hi Pritha, Reflective - we have a latent variable that is unobservable, than we use manifested variables as indicators (effect indicators). The LV is the cause and MVs are the effects. If the LV vary, all indicators will vary together. In this case we could use Cronbach´s Alpha and others internal c...

Re: recursive relationships and correlations
In LISREL (covariance based) you must draw the covariance, but in PLS you don´t need. See http://forum.smartpls.com/viewtopic.php?t=125 IN the output you could see de matrix of correlations between LVs. PLS minimize the error´s covariance (predictive efficient), LISREL minimize the diference between...

Re: Calculation of INTERACTION EFFECTS
Hi Christian, Today I was working with a research where I have to use formative indicators to estimate interaction effect between LVs. I have used the approach recomended by Chin, Marcolin and Newsted (1996, 2003): "One approach for formative indicators would be to follow a two step construct s...

Hi, We have both possibilities: 1) When our research is exploratory (there is little information about what variables could be used like indicators of LV), we could use exploratory factor analysis ( common factor if we are thinking variables as reflective indicator or principal components if we are ...

Hi, just to inform...
MOROCO, João. Análise estatística com utilização do SPSS. Potugal, Edições Sílabo, 2003.
in pages 457-476 the path analysis using SPSS (only MV) is explained.
The model is calculated with multiple regression (one equation to each endogenous variable)
Best regards.

Hi all,
a reference in viewtopic.php?t=172
to create an I.C. with bootstrapping, since PLS doesn´t have normality assumption.

Re: Path models with manifest variables PLS?
Hi, with SEM covariance based you can look at BOLLEN, Kenneth A. Structural Equations with latent variables . John Wiley & Sons, 1989. (cap. 4 = SEM with observed variables). with SEM PLS based you can look at http://www.hec.unige.ch/recherches_publications/cahiers/2002/2002.25.pdf (they compare...

Re: Multi indicators and multi Causes Model
Hi, in LISREL or AMOS (covariance based) the indicators are reflective (outward), but in PLS they could be refletive or formative (inward). When using AMOS for MIMIC we have a LV (reflective indicators or effect indicators) with others variables linked as causes. When using PLS we can have two LV (c...

Re: Interpreting the relative impact of formative Indicators
Hi, I´ve found a clue in YUNG, Yiu-Fai; CHAN, Wai. Statistical analysis using bootstrapping: concepts and implementation. IN Hoyle, Rick H. Statistical strategies for small sample research . Sage Publications: 1999, p. 81-105. 1) Bootstrapping with 1000 or 2000 or 3000 replications 2) Use +/- 3 SE o...

Re: Interpreting the relative impact of formative Indicators
Hi Samy, I thought a way: 1) Run bootstrat 2) Take the standard deviation to compute a I.C. (usually +/- 3 S.D.) 3) If the another weight is in this I.C., probably the difference isn´t significant (in your example: 0,25-0,30-0,35 will be statiscally different if the S.D. was smaller than 0,05/3) Jus...
