Re: Moderation and mediation

Hi everyone Also, if i say my latent variable is a mediator, then i can use a sobel test. But if the Sobel test says its not significant it means its not a mediator? And then it should be removed from the model? How do i test for moderation? Thanks! Hi Anna, You should see for mediation. AND do not...

Thank you Sarjana Hengky Latan and Ken Lee. In fact I want to use both methods but in Sobel test I had the problem but now cleared. . getting refs

first article is available on google.

second article is becoming featured in PLS handbook 2008.

I think that these approaches are gaining in reputation in leading journals.

best regards,

did you find any literature on this?

I am also interested in whether PLS has been used for growth curve models.

Anybody know of professors using it this way? Even if it is experimental trial use.

CBSEM can be used with formative measures

Dear all, I think the PLS community need to not use blanket statements that CBSEM cannot be used for formative modeling. It has numerous difficultlies: identification programming convergence, etc but it can be done. PLS offers more flexibility in the general sense of the word when modeling with form...

When using higher order for the first time be upfront

Dear all, I would agree with the discussion on use of hierarchical or repeated indicators approach. Use in isolation if you can... But if used in a structural model be upfront about it in study limitation. Newer monte carlo studies may provide more guidance. Wilson, B. and Henseler, J. (2007), Model...

a little bit of monte carlo work is going on in this area.

You should never report reliability or AVE for formative con

Dear all,

Unless i am reading this incorrectly, do not report these statistics for the formative section of your analysis.

Even with larger n you can justify PLS use

Dear Sandra, The number of interaction terms at the item level can quickly turn a simple model into a complex one. Interactions models usually have distributional problems. It is better to justify is original indicants have distributional problems prior to creating cross-products. most people standa...

Beware: of anyone that uses MG t-test.

Dear all, I would follow the approach recommended by Joerg henseler in using a dummy regression for grouping. READ very carefully the caveats expressed by: Carte, T. A. and Russell, C. J.
