Re: Dealing with MIMIC models in SmartPLS

Yes, the suggestion of using a formative construct and a reflective construct sound reasonable. But only use these two constructs with the same meaning in your model. If you add additional constructs, you extend the nomological net of your PLS path model and, thereby, change the content of the const...

Re: Model SmartPLS with moderator variables.

Let's try to look into this. Hi, I'm doing a research project. I am new to structural equation models and especially to SMARTPLS software. I need urgent help and would greatly appreciate the guidance of an expert. I take this opportunity to thank you for the work you do and that I am discovering lit...

Re: Multiple DVs: estimate jointly or independently?

I am not sure if I understand your question. The results will change whenever you change the PLS path model since you change the context for the model estimation.

Re: SPSS Factor loadings and SmartPLS factor loadings

You find a couple of answers to this question in this discussion forum (e.g., http://forum.smartpls.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2666&p=8088&hilit=SPSS+loadings#p8088) The results differ, that's the expected outcome. SPSS does not conduct a PLS path modeling analysis. Hence the factors and s...

Yes, that should work fine. In this book, you find a chapter on the mediator analysis in PLS-SEM:

Re: Skewness/Kurtosis

These descriptive statistics in SmartPLS give you the info if your data is normal or not. PLS-SEM is well-know to provide robust results when data is non-normal (as in your case). However, you may be cautious to some extent as explained in the section on distributional assumptions in this article on...

Re: Higher order level to simple model

Hi You could run a factor analysis for each lower order construct. If the reliability is high (e.g., Cronbach's alpha > 0.8), this approach may work. Alternatively, you can use the repeated indictor approach or 2-stage approach in PLS-SEM to analyze second-order models. You find a chapter on this to...

Re: issue with testing of mediation

You may want to take a look at the updated mediation chapter in the 2nd edition of the PLS-SEM book: https://www.smartpls.com/documentation/learn-pls-sem-and-smartpls/pls-sem-book @1: When you include the direct relationship, it may explain variance that has before been explained by the indirect eff...

Re: Level of analysis question

Multi-level PLS analyses are still under development. You may use the latent variable scores and, then, run multilevel analyses for the partial regression models using Stata, SPSS, Statistica, R etc. Alternatively, you could use these variables and run a multigroup analysis. The advanced PLS-SEM boo...

Re: Smart PLS versus Binary Regression (SPSS)

Well, PLS path modeling uses OLS regression - and not binary logistic regression. You need to extract the latent variable scores (maybe the unstandardized ones obtained from the IPMA) and then, run a binary logistic regression in SPSS (binary variable as a dependent; the latent variable scores as in...

Hi @1: The result of the model estimation; see further explanations here: https://www.smartpls.com/documentation/functionalities/model-fit @2: Don't know - I usually do not use fit (see the note of caution at the end of the previously quoted link). The CB-SEM researchers usually delete indicators un...

Pilot studies are always great. But you do not need Cronbach's alpha for formative constructs. Please read this book on the model assessment: https://www.smartpls.com/documentation/ ... s-sem-book
