Hi Jan,
An example how does it work you can find in my Phd. thesis “Vertrauen zwischen Manager und Controller: Eine empirische Untersuchung der Einflussfaktoren mithilfe der Partial Least Square (PLS)-Methode“ on pp. 158-167.

Hi, In my experience such an error message often occurs when one or more variable has a to low variance especially when there are one or more items with almost the same number for all cases. Therefore it could be possible that one of your dummy variable cause the problem. Delete one by one of the va...

Hi, The formula is right. You can find the basis formula on page 306. The PLS results samples provide the mean value and standard error for each path model coefficient with all bootstraps. This information permits a student’s (pseudo) t-test to be performed for the significance of path model relatio...

Hi, You can find the answer especially in the post by Prof. Bido when he wrote: “One item is ordinal, but when we use an aggregate (scores as simple mean or weighted mean of items) to measure a LV, these scores tend to an interval scale.” Or “Steven (1951) had stated that the “illegal use” has one j...

Hi Maria, This is an old discussion between the econometrics and other scientists like psychologist. If your interpretation of Hair et al. (2012) would be right almost all our research would be nonsense. But I think that Hair et al. (2012) mean something else in their paper. I have read the passage ...

Hi Maria, This discussion should not disturb you when you use Likert scales. Almost all papers who I know use Likert scales for DV. This are often published in A or B rated journals. However, you should check your target journal if the use pls because some journal do not like such kind of research. ...

Hi Marina, In general it is possible to use binary coded variable in partial least square methods. But you need another algorithmic for the estimation of binary coded depended variables which is not implemented in the actual version of smart pls. As far as I know it would be o.k. using smart pls wit...
