Hi there,
I made a video that explains how the algorithm works. That may answer the first two questions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGjIFC1HlHk
Apart from that reading a book such as Hair: A primer on.... is a good advice to get started

Provide Key for matching report data to original data
When using case-wise deletion it is inconvenient to join the output of reports such as Base Data > Indicator Data (Original) or the group assignment of PLS-POS or FIMIX to ones original data. I would appreciate if there is a new column either giving the original row number of each record or that one...

Re: Davcik 2014 JAMR
So what's your take-a-way from these papers, Henky? There are some flaws in the method (already known for years, as you said). But in general it is more some persons' crusade against PLS or is the (sometimes implicit) conclusion that one better should stick to SEM valid?

Re: Holdout Sample calculation
Dear Murad,
do you have a more exact source/reference for Prof. Henseler's paper?
Thanks for your help!

Re: Deviation between LnL-fit indices value and LnL-developm
Hi smartPLS-team,
could you answer the first question of the previous post? ("why does the fit indices report show a worse value for LnL than the LnL-Report?")
Thanks!

Re: FIMIX algorithm not converging
Dear Jan, sorry for reviving this thread. In my case the lnL-Values are often way better if I get stuck in a local optimum (e. g. lnL=8.000) compared to those cases where the algorithm converts as expected (e. g. lnL= -20.000). Would you still discard the local optimum solution? Thanks for your help...

Re: Requirement for PLS-SEM
Hi Mei,
I (and also the reviewer) do not complain about the fact that your sample size is too small but what your reviewer means is that: "your sample size is large enough to use CB-SEM but you did not use it (and instead used PLS)!".

Re: Requirement for PLS-SEM
Hi Mei, as a quick answer, what the feedback probably refers to is that you should use CB-SEM (LISREL or AMOS). This site gives a hint when to use which: https://www.smartpls.com/documentation/choosing-between-pls-sem-and-cb-sem As for the exact numbers ("more than 100") needed to calculat...

Re: Confusion with convergent validity with formative measur
Dear Jan, in such cases, would you consider a short questionnaire where both reflective and the formative "questions" are asked only for the purpose of assessing convergent validity acceptable if the sample is comparable? I'm not seeking absolution here but just wonder if you would give th...

Re: OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
Maybe it is hidden?! or in another folder? I don't have a Mac but generally the way things work in Java it should be the same regardless of the operating system.

Re: OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
Hi PJ,
I am not on a MAC but since it is JAVA, this post should help you:
viewtopic.php?p=11417#p11417
just check where the .ini file is located on your system, back it up, and edit the original one.
regards, Jan
