which zip-file?

Hi Julia, I had the same problem. Did you install SmartPLS in a network folder? I did that and then got the same message as you got. Then I just used the Zip-file and unpacked in a folder on my desktop (so a local folder, not on a network drive). That worked perfectly, hope this helps... Hi Niels, ...

Csaba, There is some controversy related to the necessary criteria for having a mediating effect. Some authors have recently suggested that the direct effect between IV - DV is not necessary to be significant; only the indirect effect should be significant. Classic criteria to test mediation such as...

Hi, the equation is different because we intend to compute the (relative) effect of a certain latent variables that is related to the latent variable under analysis. Best Christian Professor Christian, By using and comparing f2, is it possible to state that on effect is relatively stronger than the...

I think an easy way to look at this is to compare the path weights of model 1 (assumed full mediation) with those of model 2 (no-mediation, i.e. only direct paths from IVs) and with those of model 3 (partial mediation with both direct paths and indirect path through mediator M), as recently illustr...

Dear Bido, Thank you for your answer. But I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing. What I want to estimate is the f2 for each effect in the model in order to gauge the effect of each predictor in the model. To that purpose, Henseler et al. 2008 suggested to use this formula: f2 = (R2incl-R2...

Hi! I have a similar model A -> C -> D B -> C -> D But what I would like to know is if A is a stronger predictor then B, and if A has a greater contribution to the R2 (variance explained) of the endogenous variables, when compared to B. I remembered I could test the model with and without A and comp...

testing mediation in smartPLS (bootstrapping procedures)?

Hi Bido! We recently received a review from one of our articles recommending that we should describe better our mediation analysis, and stating that there are "several recent advances in testing mediation since the work of Baron and Kenny (1986) that are particularly relevant for multiple media...

A possible solution to run 5000 bootstraps

Following a suggestion I found here on the forum, I was able to run 5000 bootstraps without any problem. It was really fast and easy. The problem was related with the virtual memory required for java to work and run the models. As Alexander Will suggested, "for the calculation of very large mod...

same problem

It also happens to me. I'm working with a second-order variable and i'm following Wold's recommendation as well. I'm starting to think that repeating the indicators in the second order variable might be the explanation, since I just bought a new laptop with 4GB of ram, and I still can't run the boot...

running 5000 bootstraps

Well, previous studies usually run 5000 bootstraps, although they're not PLS studies. Moreover, there is no specific number of resamples, but as a general rule of thumb studies recommend running at least 1000. But, of course, to make more valid and reliable, the more bootstrap resamples you can get,...

running bootstrapping with 5000 resamples

Hello! I can't run bootstrapping analysis with 5000 resamples.... it takes a long time and when it's getting to 3200 resamples, it stops. I tried it several times and it doesn't work with me. I talked with some collegues and they seem to have had similar problems before. I was wondering if someone k...
