Hi Stefan, probably the problem of negative and nonsignificant weights is the multicollinearity between the MV. The interpretation of these weights will be problematic too. The suggestion of take these MV off, probably came from a regression way of thinking. Another possibility will be group the co...

I hadn't thought of Vivek's concern #2, so I am glad to see it addressed before anyone asked me about it. And the ANOVA suggestion is very helpful too.

Thank you both for this fruitful discussion!

Thanks once again for the prompt reply Vivek! Couple more questions if you would indulge: 1. Is it appropriate to compare path coefficients of two paths which originate from the same exogenous variable, but go to different endogenous variables? 2. How small/great must the difference between path be ...

in addition to what i suggested above, i now realize after talking to a colleague that if the above technique to compare two paths is valid, then i need to calculate the variance of both exogenous paths and use a pooled variance t-test... right?

comparing path coeff's, calculating confidence intervals

I am structuring a model in which I would like to hypothesize that, though two paths might both be significant, one of the paths should be significantly (in the statistical sense) greater than the other. The approach I thought of taking to prove the above, is as follows. Bootstrapping gives us t-val...

Thank you Vivek - I just tried this and your suggestion works very well. Is this approach, representing 2nd order factors as 1st order factors with latent scores as manifest variables, a preferred solution over using the repeated measures approach? The only thing that is missing using the latent sco...

Its the same thing -- you are moderating the relationship. There is no such thing as moderating a construct. SmartPLS shows the path going to the final construct because it creates a moderation-term construct (composed of the product of the antecedent's and moderator's manifest variables) which is t...

I have been trying to create a model where the second order representation of a factor co-exists with its first order elements in a larger model. The reason I want this is that I would like to study the antecedents of the 1st order factors, but would like to study the consequents of the 2nd order fa...
