Weighting individual cases

Hi!

Is there a way to weight data in SmartPLS, i.e. assign weights to the cases of a data set?

Thanks!

(p.s.: This message is also posted in the "requested features" forum.)

Interpreting results of a partial mediation

Hi all, this is a somewhat basic question: I have a causal model with 2 endogenous (X, Y) and 3 exogenous (A, B, C) LV's. A and B are antecedents of X (R-Square 50%). C together with X are antecedents of Y (R-Square 60 %). In this case, there are only direct effects from C and X on Y (no arrow betwe...

Interpreting the relative impact of formative Indicators

Hi all, I have the following question: How can the relative impact of formative Indicators of a LV be interpreted? Let's say I have a LV with three formative MV's, each with a positive and significant weight. The weights are: 0.25 (MV 1), 0.30 (MV 2), and 0.35 (MV 3), just for example. I might intep...

Dear all, I'd like to quote this internet page (see http://www.stata.com/support/faqs/stat/reps.html). The author basically recommends to: 1) choose a sample size which is equal to the number of cases in the dataset, because "the standard error estimates are dependent upon the number of observa...

Dear Stefan, thank you! Regarding the sample size i've identified my error in reasoning. Somehow I thought that each draw contains of the whole population (e.g. 70 cases out of 100) and not each single case. Of course only the latter makes sense at all. How embarrassing ;-) Regarding the number of b...

number of cases and samples when running bootstrap

Hi all, this discussion is quite interesting. I was wondering if anybody knows how to estimate an optimal/reasonable no. of cases as well as a reasonable no. of samples. I've heard or read that choosing an equal no. of cases as the original sample size does not really make sense, because each time A...

re: Power Analysis

Hi Christian, power analysis is crucial to calculate appropriate sample sizes for a given causal model (a priori!) and is recommended by many researchers. In fact, also Chin recommends it, since the "10 times the most complex indicator..."-rule is just a simple heuristic (Chin/Newsted 1999...

modeling moderating effect when measurement models are mixed

I have a basic question here: I want to model a moderating (not mediating) effect. The MV of the exogenous LV are formative, the MV of the endogenous LV are reflective. The MV of the moderating variable is also reflective. How do I have to build the interaction term (if this is possible at all), sin...

Renaming latent variables

After highlighting the LV (one click, left mouse button) I'd simply press the F2 button. It's nearly as comfortable as double-clicking.

Power Analysis

I think it would be useful to add a feature "power analysis" (e.g. reporting degrees of freedom, calculating sample sizes etc.) for a specified model.
