I have a path model with a small but significant path coefficient (-0.180). But when it comes to effect sizes (f2 = 0.034) it is coming up as insignificant.
Does this make sense? I am concerned I may have done something wrong?
Could someone please explain this to me?

Re: Total Effects Vs Path Coefficient Values
Sorry. I can see what you are getting at now :(
Thank you so much for clearing that up Dr Becker!

Re: Total Effects Vs Path Coefficient Values
Last one Dr Becker - I promise
I understand what you mean by your explanation of Total Effects (Direct + Indirect). But why do these values NOT match the Path Coefficients? Or are they not supposed to?
Thank you so much,
Sam

Re: Total Effects Vs Path Coefficient Values
Thank you for your input Dr Becker. As an example from the PLS Primer book model on pg 187: The Path Coefficient for Competence -> Customer Loyalty (a direct path) is 0.06 The Total Effect for the same relationship is 0.079 The Path Coefficient for Likeability -> Customer Loyalty (a direct path) is ...

Re: Total Effects Vs Path Coefficient Values
Thank you for your reply Dr Becker.
But how does that explain the discrepancies between the Path Coefficient and the Total Effect of constructs directly linked in my model and the example in the PLS book?
Thank you for your help explaining this.

Total Effects Vs Path Coefficient Values
Hi: I am a PhD candidate and have just started testing my structural model with SmartPLS3. I understand that Total Effects is equivalent to the direct + indirect effects of constructs through mediation. But whilst on most occasions the value of the Total Effect from one construct to another it is di...

Outlier calculation in PLS-SEM
Hi: I am creating a new topic as it does not look like my specific query has been completely answered - please point me in the right direction if if already has :( I am a PhD candidate with 650 samples/cases imported into SmartPLS3 and model drawn. I am following the steps in the Partial Least Squar...

Re: Index Values for Latent Variables
In the interest of completeness, here are photos of pages 217 and 218 (Exhibit 7.11 and 7.12)from the "A Primer on Partial Least Squares" book from which all the images/results from which all the previous posts are taken: Capture1.gif Capture.gif Granted someone stated that there was a bug...

Re: Index Values for Latent Variables
Hi: Sorry for the late addition to this post :( I am doing the same section as you are spiking, but I have different results for my Performance/Index items: Capture.PNG Now whilst this does match the example in the book, but does not match what you posted previously :( I did play with the 'number fo...

Re: SmartPLS 2 & 3 giving diff. R2, PathCo for the same proj
I have it sorted. All constructs are reflective in this model, there are no formative constructs (i.e. the arrows were going in the wrong direction) - rookie mistake! :( But I think this happened when I clicked on one connector and chose to 'change mode of measurement model', and assumed that this r...

Re: SmartPLS 2 & 3 giving diff. R2, PathCo for the same proj
Hi MMVS: I am a PLS newbie as well. I am just doing the same Case Study from the 'A Primer on Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) book'. I have just completed the activity (first PLS Algorithm run for the Corporate Reputation project (344 rows). I have no SmartPLS Version 2...
